Der Katalog

Kraftwerk are re-releasing all of their albums (digitally remastered, enhanced artwork, new notes etc) in a box set. Here is The Catalogue.

Trance Europe Express + Metal on Metal (esp. the latter) are masterpieces of the rarest order. It sounds EXACTLY like being on a train in Germany, with the weather grim and gray but with some sun here and there, while you are traveling to a place you neither like nor hate. The trip is so nice though, you never want it to end. Through the forests, the small cities, the signs written in Futura, older trains passing you by. Waiting on empty train stations, listening to announcements you hope you got right. And the horizon (somehow) always visible. And, just when you feel happy, you can not forget that something is really -and always- looming above everything, something urgent and evil that will take us all. But you still embrace it.

(Side note: I would really give a LOT to work as  a driver for DB. Heck, I would give a lot to work as a train driver for ISAP, at least for a day or two. Also, The KLF’s Last Train To Trancentral -the UK White Room version- has some similar effects on me, but that’s another story.)
